Benefits of our soy wax candles

All of our candles are made from natural soy wax, giving a wide range of benefits:

  • They’re longer burning.Soy wax has a lower melting point, which means it burns for up to 50% longer than petroleum based paraffin wax candles.
  • They’re non-toxic. As soy wax is made from vegetable oil, it is clean burning and releases no known carcinogens.
  • They release fragrance more easily.Because of their lower melting temperature, a healthier ‘wax pool’ around the wick is created, which allows the fragrance oils to vaporise more easily and release the aromas more effectively.
  • They’re a renewable resource. Soy beans are an environmentally-friendly, sustainable and renewable resource.
  • They’re easier to clean. Unlike spills of paraffin wax candles, soy wax spills can simply be washed away, so they’re much easier to remove from any fabrics.
  • They burn cleanly. Soy releases minimal soot when it burns, so are much cleaner than paraffin wax candles.

Looking after our candles

A few simple, handy hints on candle care can help you enjoy our candles to the full!

  • Create a ‘burn memory’ when lighting a soy candle for the first time, allowing the wax to melt all the way to the sides of the glass. This avoids wax tunnelling and ensures maximum fragrance and an even burn.
  • AlightAlways keep the wick trimmed ! Trim the wick down to a maximum of 5mm after each burn. This stops the flame smoking and gives a much longer life to the candle. If the candle does give off any sooty smoke, extinguish it and trim the wick before lighting again. Similarly it ensures any spent wick doesn’t come into contact with the wax.
  • Do not let candles burn in a draught or close to a heat source as this will cause the flame to smoke and burn unevenly.
  • Each time the candle is extinguished remove any charred pieces of wick, remains of matches or other impurities.
  • Never leave a candle unattended and always ensure it is well away from any flammable materials, such as curtains.
